Brazoria Shoe Box Swap

I spent the day yesterday with my Mom, Sabrina, Jenn, Lizard and friends in Brazoria TX at Anita's Shoe Box Swap. We had a wonderful day making beautiful cards. There was so much talent under one roof! This was the 1st time my Mom has ever attended anything like this. She did a pretty good job and completed 20 out of 30 cards!!! Then to make a perfect day awesome, I was super happy to win the challenge card. This is the 1st time winning for me. My friends, Jenn & Lizard, told me that they were so proud to see there lil' girl growing up! It's an inside joke but was super funny to the 3 of us...

Sorry I haven't posted lately. I've had a lot going go and I've been slightly busy... I just returned home from being in New Orleans for 2 weeks. I attended Scrapfest in Covington, LA while there and had a great time. I will post soon some of the page layouts that I completed at Scrapfest. I didn't get a lot done because I was too busy socializing. lol

I also got to see my grand-baby for the 1st time via ultra sound which was totally awesome! "It's a GIRL!!! We are so excited and can hardly wait for her to enter the world so that we can spoil her with lots of love...

So, I participated in this "Pay it Forward" thing on Facebook where you post to your page that you will make a handmade gift (anything) to the first 5 people who comment and repost to there page... Well, as of date I have received 2 gifts! They are absolutely adorable. My first gift was handmade and hand delivered by my friend and neighbor, Leah. She made me a yummy good bouquet!

My second gift (received in the mail today) came from my dear Louisiana friend, Paperpiecing Patty! She made adorable Easter bunny cards. The picture really does no justice for the actual art of the card. They have so much detail to them and are simply adorable! Thanks to both Leah & Patty for your thoughtfulness! I am so blessed to have such loving and caring friends!!!

Busy Day!

Okay, so today I had a very productive day playing at Archiver's... I completed 3 cards, 1 tag, and 1 ATC! For my first card, I used Hunter Green, Yellow, and Red Cardstock. Gecko Galz Emphemera - True Romance Collection, and Gold Ribbon.

For the second card, I used Pink Cardstock, K & Company Stickers, Gecko Galz Emphemera - True Romance Collection, Gecko Galz Fripperies - Heart String Fibers, and ColorBox Chalk - Chestnut to ink around the edges.

For the 3rd card, I used Black & Red Cardstock, Black Fabric Mesh (that I bought at Scrapfest last year), Heart Charm, StazOn Opaque - Cotton White, Gecko Galz Emphemera - True Romance Collection, Gecko Galz Alphabet Soup - Love Letters, Gecko Galz Clear Stamps - Garden Mandela Set

For the tag, I used Yellow Carstock, White Sparkle Tulle, Cream Ribbon, & Lace, K & Company Metal Art, Flower Soft - Spring, and Gecko Galz Emphemera - True Romance Collection.

For the ATC, I used Green Cardstock, Gecko Galz Fripperies - Red Tulle, Gecko Galz Fripperies - (Silver) Ultra Thick Embossing Powder, Gecko Galz Emphemera - True Romance Collection, and Metal Heart Brad (whick I shanked the brad off and attached to tulle).

I had so much fun creating the cards, tag, and ATC. And of course it was an added benefit being able to spend the day in good company with awesome friends! I hope you enjoyed viewing my creations and that they inspire you to be creative...

Off to a GREAT start in 2011!

Okay, so I just joined this AWSOME website called Bella Creations where there are so many talented ladies with fantastic ideas! I completed my first challenge in the group which was a tag. We were given an image and had to create a Valentine tag. This is what I came up with... I used Tim Holtz paper stash - vintage shabby pink. I popped up my image because I love popping up things. lol Also used some K & Company stickers along with some ribbon for the bottom and a clip (which I added a pretty flower embellishment). Along with a pink butterfly and green & pink ribbon and a little pink tulle. I am so excited about being a part of this website along with being a new design team member with Gecko Galz! You can check out both websites by clicking on the pictures to the right. Also, if you are interested in joining Bella Creations they are taking a few more members. Check it out, you won't be disappointed... Gecko Galz has lots of awesome products for sale and has some really neat ideas too. So, check that one out too!

This is posted for Vera Holloway of "Scrapolicious" located in Thibodaux. She held a class at Scrapfest that I took but due to lack of time, we were unable to complete our project and had to do it on our own time. I was determine to finish it and wanted to duplicate her masterpiece as much as possible because she has a gift of creativity that is totally different from what I am use to doing. Everyone in the class had the tall flip books but Lisa & I had the short ones. Anyway, I finish it and I am proud of how it turn out. I still have to put pictures on it but here it is anyway. I've been a busy little bee...

Okay, so I knew my friends were at an "All Day Crop" in New Orleans and I so badly wish that I were with them--so I had to make up for my absence... Heck, I might ought to do that more often as I really was getting a lot done! Not me, I wouldn't pass up a get together for nothing so don't worry yourselves my friends--I will be at the next crop, socializing as usual, the next chance I get! lol

So, thanks to "Tickle Me Pink Designs" and "Scrappin at the Castle", I was able to complete 4 double page layouts! I still need to put my pictures on them but I was just glad to get something done... Which for those of you who know me, know that getting something done is a "big" accomplishment!!! Hope you enjoy...

Swaps for TAC

I finally completed my swaps for TAC in June. I am so excited. The theme for this years crop is "What Happens At TAC Stays At TAC!" The first swap I'm in is for a Theme Page Kit in which I chose a paperpiecing for this swap.
The second swap that I am in is also a Theme Page Kit and this time I chose the journal card or file folder. Well, I was struggling with what the idea of the file folder was for so I opt to make a cross between the two. So, here is my journal/file folder. It opens from the top like a file folder and has printed paper with lines so that they can journal inside it or attach pictures--whatever they'd like...

I am also participating in a ATC (Alter Trading Card) swap. Here is what I came up with for that swap. The title of my ATC card is "Friendship."

Scrapfest ~ March 26 - 28, 2009

As always, the "Sweeet & Sassy Scrappers" had an awesome time! We had a total of 17 ladies attend with our group. Wow!

Kaci (aka: Starburst),Jill (aka: Jilly Bean), and myself (aka: Peppermint "Patty") won 5 - $5 dollar gift certificates to be spent at 5 different vendors.

Nicole (aka: Butterfinger) won the "Slice Die Cutting Machine" with the carrying case & cutting matt. This was one of the 3 major door prizes... And, Connie (aka: Sugar Babies) won the "Big Shot" with accessories that Lisa Baracco was raffling for Kayla's Choir Disney Trip! Kathy (aka: Lady Godiva) drove down on Wednesday from GA to attend the event. Lisa (aka: Whopper), Connie (aka: SugarBabies), Lisa G. (aka: Bubblicious), Rose Marie (aka: Kisses), and myself stayed with Nicole at her house. Thanks Nicole! Kathy stayed with family and the Jenny (aka: Snocap), Jennifer (aka: Kissables), & Cheryl (aka: Smarties) drove back and forth each day/night... Kaci (aka: Starburst), Tammy (aka: Tootsie), and Charlotte (aka: Goobers) came on Friday and spent the night at a hotel. Marty (Kaci's honey) drove up Friday evening to stay with Kaci and brought Bailey to the event so that we can see her. She is so adorable and everyone wanted to pinch her chunky cheeks! I went with Jenn & Cherly one day for lunch and while at lunch we were able to take a picture with the "KING" and also save a snapping turtle which was in the road...
Did you know that turtles apparently let out a stink when scared??? Jenn was real quick to make sure that I knew it wasn't coming from her...lol

Kathy, Lisa B., Connie, and myself went for some Mexican food one night.
It was so yummy!

And, because I was often missing from my seat--Kathy, Nicole, & Rose Marie decided that they would strap me to my seat once I sat down...lol

Easter Cards For Soldiers

I finally finished making my 20 cards for the soldiers, YaY!!! One of my scrapping friends, Patty Loup (aka: Paperpiecing Patty or Momma 411) is organizing another mail of cards for our soldiers who are away from there families. This time she is gathering Easter cards. They can be handmade or store bought, either way the troops are the utmost appreciative for whatever they get as they don't have the luxury of going to a card shop like we do... Okay, for my card I sort of cheat...lol I purchase these card packs from Target in the $1 bends and just added to it. The stamp set that I used was from The Angel Company called, "I love Easter." I used the flower punch to cut the flowers out and finish the card off by adding stickles to the center of the flowers and around the saying, "For Somebunny Special." I have a small "Happy Easter" saying inside so that they can have plenty of space to journal to there love ones. I also got the card layout idea from "Mojo Monday" #70. Thanks, Mojo for the idea! I'm still struggling with making cards for some reason. I just can't seem to put them together but I'm a die hard, so I'll keep on trying...lol

Flower Plaque

Here is a little plaque that I made for my niece who is having her 1st baby this month! Obviously, she is having a little girl! I used the wooden flower that you can buy at Micheal's and covered it with paper and embellished. I used a saying from the vellum girls theme book and cut the words, "Princess Aubrey" out using my sizzix's. She can use the matt on the flower to either place a picture of her little princess or she can journal. Myself, I would put a picture but it is now her's to do with it what she wishes. Good luck Amanda on a safe, quick, and healthy delivery. Can't wait to meet our new little "PRINCESS AUBREY!"

My honey finally finished my cabnet and I've been busy sorting & putting everything away. It's taken me "2" days!!! But, I'm done and my pleased with the outcome. Ladybug "Thank You" cards

This passed weekend, I had Natalie's 7th Birthday Party. The theme was Ladybugs. I had activities plan out for the entire evening however, I apparently didn't think them through too well...lol Originally, my niece (Mindy) was going to be my helper and help the kids with the cookies while I played games with the the girls. Luckily for "all" of us, 4 other Mom's stayed and helped. It was a little crazy but all worked out and everyone ~ including the adults had a good time! Here is a picture of the proud Birthday Girl with her cake that I made for her. Here are the "Thank You" cards that I made for her wonderful friends who made her 7th Birthday Celebration one to remember & for the awesome Mom's who stayed to help!!! For the cards, I cut out of black & red cardstock 4in circles. I punch out 2in circles for the head. I used a dabber and stamped spots on the red circles. Then, I cut the red circles in half. Punch out small wholes at the top of the halves to put the brads through so that the wings (red circles) could open up. Then taped the 2in circles to the back side of the black circle to cover the backs of the brads. Glued wiggly eyes and stamped a "Thank You" message inside the body on the black circles using cotton white stazon stamp pad.

GCS Flip Flop Album

Okay, Here is another project that I completed this week. Told ya "I'm Back!!!" lol The theme for this years Gulf Coast Scrappers in New Orleans was "Flip Flopping Around GCS". My good friend Lisa Baracco made a flip flop book using 3 flip flop shapes & a ring to make her book. Well, I decided that I would use my Zutter machine and make an album using the same concept. I free hand a flip flop a little larger then hers for the pattern and cut out of chipboard flip flop shapes with the heels being a little straighter so that I could bind the heels with the Zutter. It was a really fun book to make and of course making it and looking at my pictures brought me back to that happy occassion... GCS was a lot of fun this year (as always) and it was a lot of fun to catch up with friends from the Westbank, Eastbank, & North Shore. Hope you enjoy my little project as much as I enjoyed making it... ~ME

It's been a long while since I've been blogging but as most of you know I've been pre-occupied with other things lately. I think things are finally settled down and now I am ready to get back to my third love...lol
My Mom & Dad collected the state quarters for my 3 sons and my great nephew. She gave the coins to me to figure out a way to display them. We could have purchased the folder or display board from the website but being the scrapper that I am, well--I scrapped them!!!! I used 12x12 printed patriotic paper and made the display card for the quarters using my Excel program. I inked the edge (I love that look) and purchased at Michael's the 12x12 frame and this is what I came up with. Hope you enjoy. We are still needing Alaska & Hawaii.

A couple of gifts that I made!

Here are 2 gifts that I made. One is for my mother-in-law and has a picture of her 3 children on it. The other is a gift that I made for Natalie's kindergarten teacher. It is a dry erase board. I am also working a a gallon can for one of my friends. So, in spite of being busy with all the normal and un-normal stuff--I managed to get a couple of things done... YAY! I wish every one a safe & merry Christmas! I will be out of town after Christmas to visit with my son and family in New Orleans...

The Scrapbook Junkie

This pass weekend I had the pleasure of joining some friends (and making new friends) at The Scrapbook Junkie in Weber TX. Earlier this year when I attended Scrapfest in Covington La, I met a lady who approached me to see where at in TX I lived as she too lived in the TX area. As it turn out, she lived near me and she contact me for us to meet up and scrap at a local scrapbook store (Maridawn's). At the store, she & her friend Brenda invited me to be a part of a scrapbook weekend that they were planning with some LA friends right here in Houston. So, that is how this all came about! To make a long story short (yeah, right!!!). We scrapped Friday 10 - 12, Saturday 9 - 2, and Sunday 9 - 5! Each day we made an awesome make & take. We also met some other scrappers while there and I will be meeting with a couple of them to scrap from time to time together. I am really loving living here in Katy and having a lot of fun making new friends... I didn't do any scrapping in my albums but I did get a lot of gifts done (19 to be exact)! Now that I am home, I plan on that being my last scrapbooking event until after the 1st of the year. I need to get through Christmas & New Year's... Here are the things that I did while on my weekend getaway at the Scrapbook Junkie and the fantastic group of ladies that I scrapped with!

Scrappily Urgent Weekend Retreat

This pass weekend we held our "1st" retreat for our "Sweet & Sassy Scrappers" in Covington. We had a blast (of course)! We had a total of 9 ladies out of 10 so we feel like it was a total success... We had door prizes, played a game, and did a class using folders. Everyone worked on different things and all seem to get a lot done. At least, I did!!! lol I actually got more done this weekend then I do at the other events that I go to. Nicole quickly made sure that I knew it was because I am usually shopping and socializing...- NOT ME??? lol We have some awesome scrappers in our little group of scrappers. Thanks to Nicole & her family for opening there house up for us to stay and take over... As any scrapper knows, scrapping takes up a lot of space especially when you want to bring everything but the kitchen sink... Our weekend retreat ended on Sunday late afternoon and that night Nicole & I stayed up making a purse. They came out really cute. I didn't get a picture of hers yet because she wanted to add some ribbon but needed to go to the local scrapbook store to get the ribbon she wanted so hers will be a supprise! Our next event will be held again in Covington but will be at "Scrapfest". I hope that some of you plan on attending that event. Until then, have fun scrapping (I know I will!).....

SAD NEWS

Last night I received an email that one of my favorite local scrapbooking stores in town is closing! However, on a happier note--I did have a chance to go by the store today and take advantage of some of the great sales! In addition to all the purchases that I made today, I also purchase a double paper rack for my new scrapbook room... Now, I am busy setting my room up and trying to get organized. Anyway, I would just like to encourage everyone to support the local scrapbook stores in town. I am the 1st person who wants to get a sale or a good deal, but one thing that you cannot buy is the support and knowledge that you get from our scrapbook stores!!!!

This weekend, I did major cleaning and combine by 2 boys in 1 room. They still have lots of space and now I have a "scrapbook" room!!! YAY... I wanted them to have there own rooms but after telling them time and time again that if they didn't start keeping there rooms clean that I would put them together, I finally follow through with my words. It is really for the best becasue now our upstairs family room will now become the playroom/tv room. Now, all I have to do is get busy scrapping. This upcoming weekend, Butterfingers is hosting a "Scrappily Urgent Weekend Retreat" at her house in Covington for our Sweet & Sassy Scrappers Group. I can't wait to see everyone again. We will have no doubt a great time!
